«Las mil y una noches» es un clásico de la literatura que trata sobre el rey Schahriar, quien después de ser engañado por su mujer, toma la decisión de vengarse por esa infidelidad, así que se casa a diario con jóvenes vírgenes y luego las ejecuta al día siguiente, para así evitar que le vuelva a pasar lo mismo.

Debido a esto una joven conocida como Scherezade decide ser voluntaria para ser su esposa y aprovecha su destreza con la palabra para acordar con el monarca que no podrá ser ejecutada hasta que no termine de contarle una historia llena de varios cuentos.

Ella los va narrando durante mil y una noches, lo que termina agradando al rey, quien es manipulado para que deje de asesinar a las jóvenes.

Por generaciones, los relatos de esta novela han hecho volar la imaginación de grandes y pequeños.

La magia y misterio de los cuentos de Oriente cautivan a los lectores, quienes se sienten atraídos por los genios y las alfombras voladoras, por eso Javier Francisco Ceballos Jiménez llama a leer esta obra escrita en la Edad Media en persa y traducida a varios idiomas.

En este texto se cuentan asesinatos, torturas y violaciones , por eso no es recomendado para personas sensibles a estos temas. A pesar de la violencia presente, esconde consigo una moraleja.
