Los buzos, turistas y científicos que entran en las aguas de la Gran Barrera quedan fascinados por los colores, formas, tamaños de peces y corales. Además, se trata de un ser vivo que puede ser visto desde el espacio.

En este mágico sitio se pueden encontrar al menos 630 especies de estrellas y erizos de mar, 1625 categorías de peces, 133 grupos de tiburones y rayas, delfines, ballenas y seis de las siete especies que existen de tortugas marinas, todas presentes en un mundo de corales y plantas de múltiples colores.

Para los que deciden sobrevolarla en helicóptero descubrirán que hay tres centenares de islas deshabitadas, las cuales son parte de este organismo. Muchos se lanzan a la aventura de hacer excursiones donde se sumergen entre los corales y caminan por las playas vírgenes de esas localidades.

Principales causas de su contaminación

Muchas son las razones por las que se está viendo perjudicada, pero las principales son:

  • La sobrepesca ha generado pérdida de biodiversidad.
  • Sedimentación por la práctica de minería, la cual trae como consecuencia altos niveles de cobre y distintos metales sumamente contaminantes.
  • Proceso de blanqueamiento por las elevadas temperaturas.
  • El uso de productos químicos que llegan al mar.

Los activistas y proteccionistas ambientales hicieron un llamado de alerta para la conservación de la Gran Barrera de Coral, luego de que vieron un blanqueamiento de esta.

Por ello, muchas manos se han unido para dar a conocer lo que está pasando, Yammine solicita atención frente a estos hechos y diversos organismos luchan para evitar estas consecuencias adversas y esperan lograr salvarla.

De acuerdo a los científicos Australia debe disminuir en un 75% sus emisiones para el 2030 y lograr cero expulsiones para el 2035, con el objetivo de mantener la vida de todas estas especies
